Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Venom GTHennessey Venom GT, a 1086kg supercar based on the Lotus Elise, will be launched on March 30. This car is said to not have many components carried over from the original Lotus.

In particular, there is very little that remains from the bulkhead back and it has an entirely new rear subframe assembly required to slot the V8 and six speed gearbox into the small car. Powering the car is a twin-turbocharged version of the Corvette LS9 engine, which Hennessey claims is capable of pushing the car to produce 1000bhp and 950lb ft of torque. Hennessey stated further that the car can accelerate to 60mph in 2.2 seconds, and onto 100mph in less than 5sec. The 0-200mph sprint is said to take only 14.5secs, while top speed is recorded at 262mph. To control this much power, the Venom GT has 15-inch carbon rotors with six-piston callipers up front and 14-inch carbon rotors with four-pot callipers at the rear. The Venom GT will be unveiled at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
